Sauna - Fact and Effects

Saunas are widely used today at the fitness industry. It is a small room where the humidity is controlled through temperature. Saunas are used as a relaxation method and a therapy for some. Inside a sauna room, you would normally smell a pleasing aroma making it more relaxing for the brain.
Cultures around the world from present to medieval times have different kinds of saunas. Different names, different way of producing steam, yet the same effect. Ever since we were born, saunas already helped people relax and alleviate stress.
The sauna that people use widely today is called the Finnish sauna. Finnish sauna is commonly known as only "sauna".
Saunas are further classified into two: the wet and the dry sauna. The wet sauna also known as steam rooms has a lower temperature in comparison with the dry sauna. It gives a moist wet feeling and a temperature ranging from 37-46 Celsius so the water doesn't reach boiling point and shoot up. Dry saunas reach 121 Celsius. It has no moisture and as the name suggests, it has a dry feeling to it.
Some sauna rooms use hot fragrant rocks that are able to release an aroma. Some uses a carefully selected wood as fuel. I find it really odd because I feel like the person is being cooked. But you shouldn't be worried about it as wood was the first fuel for saunas.
The saunas relaxing effect is best enjoyed when you jumped from a high temperature room, to low temperature water. Some people believe that the sudden shock in body's temperature is good for the immune system. This is not advisable to people who have high blood pressure though.
The benefits that we can get from sauna is blood circulation, skin cleansing, increased cardiovascular activity, stress reliever and can lead to viruses disappearing from the body. The best part about being inside a sauna room is you actually get to relax your body and reset your mind.
The sauna can help the body sweat and burn some calories. Body expends energy that's why the sweat drips out. However, the sauna removes more of the body fluid rather than the fats. So it's not that reliable to use as it can lead to dehydration if exposed for a long period of time.
The water weight loss that occurred inside the sauna room can quickly be gained back after intakes of fluid. Saunas are used by athletes as well to drop their weight in weigh-ins before fights.
